We never thought we would say “It must be that time of the month”, and it mean something good, but we stand corrected. Anti Magazine Issue 69 has just been released. Peep it people!
UPDATE: Apparently CNN removed the Simon Cowell video per a request from the Fox Network. Lame!!
FAIRspot has recently been involved with a major copyright infringement lawsuit regarding one of our latest ideas, “Design Idol”. The entire premise of the show is based on the popular American Idol, but for designers—and judged by some of the biggest names in design. We pitched a pilot to the Bravo Network (makers of Project Runway), last Fall and things were looking very promising until early this year.
In January we received a “Cease and Desist” letter from the Fox Network (makers of Idol), telling us we were legally not able to do the show. Well, we don’t give up that easy! With some help from our friends in high places (you know who you are!), we were able to score some very public exposure on some of the major news networks. The fight’s not over yet though, this is an ongoing battle and we need YOUR support!
Be sure to watch us on the Larry King LIVE show tonight! The interview has aired in some countries already but will air in the U.S. and Europe tonight. Check your local schedule. CNN will provide a website poll during the show where you can vote with your opinion. We just ask that you vote for us! Viva la FAIRspot and Design Idol!
Candy Magazine is back after a long (and much needed) break. The latest issue is appropriately titled “The Difficult Second Volume”, and features work from NB:Studio, Non-Format, Sergio Moro, Synth Eastwood and many others. This is their biggest issue yet, so be sure to check it out!
We forgot about this great resource provided by the Design Museum. The Design Library is an amazing collection of bios and interviews with some of the greatest creative thinkers ever to have lived—and some that are still alive. This is one reference you shouldn’t pass up.
The team at Behance recently launched Behance Magazine, an online magazine focused on helping creative professionals make ideas happen. The mag features interviews of leading creative teams and tips for leadership and productivity in the creative world. Great job guys!
We picked this up in the airport the other day and it really helped make the 2 hour delay fly by (no pun intended). Antenna magazine claims to be the first mainstream magazine to target individuals who are on a constant quest for the newest and coolest products without using celebrities, models and concept shoots to promote the goods. Sounds FAIR to us!
Most illustrators develop a very recognizable style. In the newest issue of IdN Mag (v15), they look at the work—and read the words—of 8 leading designers who share what may be broadly termed a child-like approach to illustration.
