Open Social is a new open web API, which is being spearheaded by Google and joined by a wide range of partners including Google’s own Orkut, LinkedIn, Hi5, Friendster, Salesforce.com, Oracle, iLike, Flixster, RockYou, and Slide. This is the beginning of the Google vs. Facebook “war” - an attempt to secure the next generation online operating system, if you will, with the main goal of establishing a standard platform for social network app development.
