2007 Year End Highlights
Before we move into 2008, we thought we should take a minute to reflect on some of the highlights of this past year. This list is not meant to be a complete wrap-up of any sorts, just some stuff that stood out and we felt was worth a mention. Feel free to email us with something you think should absolutely be on this list and we'll consider including it. Happy New Year!
Hybrid Art Sticks Around
Technique conquered concept as vector-photo hybrid art continued to remain in the forefront and doesn't appear to be going away anytime soon. Work below by Brand Nu.
Peeled Templates Take Over
We saw just as many peeled stickers as we saw Indexhibit portfolio templates.

Hello And Goodbye
Adding the word "Hello" before your alias seemed like a good idea... to several people. The last time we checked, "Goodbye" was not as popular. Work below by fan favorite, Hello Muller.

Tee's Are On and Offline
Designers discovered the t-shirt (again), and decided to make it a canvas (again). Popular t-shirt maker Threadless found success with this rediscovered canvas and opened a store in Chicago to prove it.

Geo-Type is Pick of '08
Geometric and illegible type started to creep in towards the last six months of the year. We predict "Geo-Type" (our coin phrase) to be a major trend as we move into '08. Work featured below by the amazing Andrei Robu.

The Community Gets Shaken Up
NewsToday became QBN. French'N'Fresh merged into Nice to Meet You. ColourLovers updated with new features and better usability, as did the crew over at ComputerLuv. The guys at DesignIsKinky ditched their old look and are currently in transition mode. Lounge72 and PixelSurgeon closed their doors after several great years, while Behance.net and Space Collective picked up right where they left off. (Work below via Space Collective)

A Design Cult Family is Born
The KDU grew in masses and inducted up-and-comers Stefan Lucut (work below) and Ravi Vasavan.

Helvetica Turned 50
Helvetica turned 50 and the largest documentary film tour in graphic design history ensued. Any guesses what typeface they'll celebrate next? Email us and tell us what you think.

Adobe Continues to Evolve
And finally, the software makers that make it all possible. Adobe released Creative Suite 3
, rebranded the Photoshop family
, redesigned their corporate website
and issued a statement telling
the world they will not be supporting older CS applications with Mac OS X Leopard.
